My BB Cream Has a New BFF!

Years ago, I fell in love – literally – with luminizing creams. I don’t mean glittery creams and lotions that make you sparkle and twinkle as if you were leading the Disney Main Street Electrical Parade.

Nor am I talking about bronzers that make your face look as if you took a five-hour snooze in a tanning bed. Rather, the creams that stole my heart give your face a healthy, subtle glow with just a hint of color.

Oh, and I feel a responsibility to tell you that those super glittery cosmetics accentuate fine lines, so the older you get, the more you need to get up close and personal with matte or a slight shimmer, but leave the garish glitter to young, unlined skin. (Truth hurts, I know.) And that means on your neck, décolletage and shoulders, too. Who thought it was a good idea to have sparkly shoulders and cleavage, anyway?

A good luminizing cream with a little color can be used alone or mixed with your foundation. I’m always on the lookout for the perfect glow that makes my dry skin look healthy. So, I was excited when the folks at Jouer sent me tubes of their Luminizing Moisture Tint to try.

Jouer tint

I review a lot of cosmetics and have drawers full of slightly used lotions and potions that I tried for a while and never used again. Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint is not going into those piles.

It’s lightweight and perfect as a sheer summer tint on its own. It offers up SPF 20 that protects from UVA and UVB rays – that’s another plus. At the end of the day, my skin still looks fresh, not shiny, and the tint doesn’t settle into pores and fine lines.

The cream, formulated for all skin types, contains ginseng and gingko biloba leaf extract to boost antioxidants to your skin. Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint is oil free, hypoallergenic and water-resistant.

Here’s how I use it to make my skin look absolutely luminous when I want a little more coverage, which often is the case. I combine it with my L’Oreal Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator. I apply a few dots of Jouer on my face and blend it in well. Then I’ll do the same with the BB cream. A little blush, and my face looks healthy and natural. Seriously, as long as BB creams and luminizers are around, I may never need to use heavy feeling foundations again.

Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint comes in six shades. I have medium light skin and find that Golden works best for me. If you’re not sure which shade to select, err on the side of lighter rather than darker.

Luminizing Moisture Tint is pricey at $38 for a 1.7-ounce tube. The good news is that a little goes a long way. You’ll find it at select Nordstrom stores and through Jouer. Try it. I’d love to know what you think and how it makes your skin look.

M.A.C Faves Are Back

OK, well, not all of them, obviously. And they’re not sticking around forever this time, either.

The powers at M.A.C asked fans which colors they’d like to have back, and thousands answered via Facebook. So, this month, M.A.C by Request is bringing back –only until supplies last – three of the most popular discontinued lipstick, Lipglass and eye shadow shades.

Note that they’re only available online through M.A.C.

Lipsticks are available online starting August 6.

Lipglass are available online starting August 8.

Eye shadows are available online starting August 13.
